IFrom' Our' Special' Oorreauondent.) — a- , SKATING AT LOWER HTJTT. - The "toboggan'' attracted, a .large number ,of skaters at^tho 1 Hutt Rink last evening, 'and much amusement was caused among the venturesome ones who preferred a switchback road to a level one. The instructors were kept very l>usy, tending the,very large number of novices, ■' who are increasing hi numbers every evening. BILLIARD MATCH. ■ At the Petone Junior Club last evening a' billiard match was played between Mr.. J. W. Read, the well-known professional, and F. Brice, representing the-Junior Club. Brice was given 300 in 750, and his-total at the close of the game was 523. ..Road's best breaks were 68, 76, and 145, and Briee's 14, 16, and 17.. The game.was witnessed by a large section of the club's members. BOWLING CLUB SOCIAL. The annual "social" under the auspices of the Petone Bowling Club was held in the Victoria Street Hall last evening. There were approximately 140 members and guests present, including a number from the Hutt and Wellington Clubs. The early, part of the evening was devoted to progressive euchre, and after supper dancing was indulged in. LODGE EVENT. There was a splendid attendance at the.monthly "basket party" held last night in connection with the Hope of Petone, 1.0. G.T., Lodge, and a very enjoyable evening was spent in music and games, etc. Items were given by the Misses M'Donald, Feathorston, ■\Yatkins, Corson, Mcsdames Thompson and Fuller, and Messrs Hudson, Kyle, Robertson, and Parker. Miss Watkins played the accompaniments.
