AGE OF THE CARRIAGES.' By Telegraph—l'ross Association—Copyright. (Rec. July 30, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, July 29. Before the Special Board of Inquiry into the Richmond disaster, Mr. Smith, railway engineer, gave evidence that none of the carriages in the two trains which collided were under 18 years old and none over 27 years. Tho block recorder at tho South Yarra signal-box stated that the fog was so dense that ho could not sec tho trains in tho station. Richmond gave thorn a clear-line signal.
