The demands of the shed-hands and cooks, as made upon the Canterbury, wore considered and. generally condemned, as, owing- to the temporary character of the work and the employment of a large amount of inexperienced labour, and also to the diverse conditions prevailing, 110 award for shedhands could, in their opinion, give satisfaction or bo fair to either owners or workers. They considered that an award for cooks at shearing time is not practicable. ; The Shearers' Accommodation Amendment Bill was also ■ considered, and objections were niade to several of the clauses therein as being unnecessary and liable to press ■ unduly on small sheep farmers.
