CARTERTON NOTES.

A suggestion was made at tho smoke concert.held recently under the auspices of the South Wairarapa Poultry Association that it would probably be in the interests of the association if it were to add a class for dogs to its programme. There are komiels in Hie showgrounds, use of which could be had no doubt for the asking from the. Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society. . The matter will bo considered at tho next meeting of the General Committee. Bro. AY. H. Partridge presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Rcchabite Lodge on Monday evening, when in addition to routine business two new members were initiated. At a. meeting of Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., on Monday'evening, (liree new members wore initiated and two proposed for hiembership. It was decided to obtain a framed photograph of the team that was successful as the lodge's representatives in the recent seveu-a-sido. football tournament at Masterton. Bro. W. H. .Baillie was installed, into tho office of treasurer. , The Foresters defeated the Druids by 32 games to 31 in the United Friendly Societies' card tournament on Monday evening. A public taeeting is to be held hero' on Thursday evening to discuss the advisability of acquiriny a wholesale boot and shoe manufacturing business, and establishing the factory in Carterton.
