WEDNESDAY. fen sour,, Stewed brisket of beef. Cartots. Turnips..Potatoes.. Jam turnovers. SIWED BRISKET OF BEEF. Rvo.or six pounds brisket of beef, 3 or i slices of bacon, 1 carrot, 2 onions, 6 cloves, 6 peppercorns, 6 allspice, a bunch of herbs, pepper and salt to. tast*. ■ Brown '■ the ■ brisket slightly in ■ a little dripping. Put the ; slices -of bacon into the stewpan; slice the vegetables; add the vegetables, the spices tied'in 1 muslin and the meat. Barely cover with hot water, or hot weak-stock,, and'siiunier for about four hours, keeping- the lid on tightly.: all '■ the time. Strain the liquor, and serve as gravy with, the .meat.. Garnish the meat with carrots-and. turnips boiled separately. :. ■-_■ -■ T FOE TO-MORROW. . , Two. pints of stock.' Curry - powder. Chutney. Apple.
