Mr. Keir Hardie, Labour member for Merthyr Tydvil, in a speech at Ghestor-lc-Street. said he regarded the existence of kings as a proof of lunacy among their peoples. Sane people would insist on ruling and governing themselves. It was a profound mistake to imagine that the workers of the country were intensoly loyal. The cost of maintaining 'the Royal Family was £790,000 a year. This was a scandalous waste.Both parties in the House of Commons, however, trooped into the same lobby, leaving the Labour party. and a few conscientious Radicals to do their best to oppose this waste. -
