EASTBOURNE AFFAIRS.
THE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME.-
At a meeting of the Eastbourne Bom ough Council, held on Saturday evening, the report of the engineer (Mr, Itounthwaite) in connection with the cost of tunnel, intake works at the stream', concrete race to tunnel, and necessary engineering and supervision, charges, was brought up, and it was decided to postpone consideration until ■the engineer had submitted a full report upon the reticulation of the borough, this report' to bo accompanied by plans. These ,two reports will be the subject of discussion at a special meeting of the council, which is to be held on Saturday night next. At the same meeting the Finance Committee's recommendation to strike the rates for the year will come up for confirmation. - x
A sub-committee was also set up to confer with the engineer re obtaining full information before putting the water system proposal before the ratepayers. •■ '
