Tho New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer lvimutaka arrived here from London. via Cape Town, yesterday, [The vessel was due at Hobart on Friday. She has SCO tons of cargo to discharge there, and will not leave for Wellington until somo time to-day. She should put in an appoarance at this port early on Saturday,! ULMAROA FROM SYDNEY. The Huddart-Parker liner TXlimaroa left Sydney at 2 p.m. on Saturday with a total of 171 passengers for Now Zealand porta (86 saloon and 85 steerage). She has 560 tons of cargo to land at Wellington, and is due here on Wednesday morning, sailing at 5 p.m. on Thursday for Melbourne via southern ports and Hobart.
LAUNCH OF THE INDRABARAK. There was launched on June 8 from tho Wallscnd shipyard of Messrs. Swan, Hunter, and Wigham Richardson, Limited, a twin-screw steel steamer named Indfabarah, which is being built for the firm of Sir Thomas Royjlen, of Livorpool, managing owner of the Indra Line, Limited, of Liverpool. Tho vessel, which is to bo enframed in the refrigerated cargo trado from Australia and New Zealand, has a length of 470 ft. between perpendiculars, with-68ft. beam, and 43ft. depth, moulded to the shelter deck, the gross tonnage being about 7000 tons. The plans and specifications of the vessel were prepared by the owner's consulting engineers. The ship is classed 100 A 1 ut Lloyd's, but is built in excess of the present rules of that society. Three of the holds and the 'tween decks are Insulated in order to carry refrigerated cargoes. There is comfortable accommodation for about a, dozen first-class passengers. Special attention has also been paid to tho quarters for both officers and crew. The twin-screw mtglnea, together with the boilers, aro being built ai West Hartlepool, and are designed to drive the vessel at a speed of IS knots. Miss Hoyden, a daughter of Sir Thomas Roydon, named the ship Indrabarah. The owners were represented by Mr. Thomas R<oydeu, who is also deputy-chairman of the Ounard Steamship Company. The Indrabnrah is expected to leave London for New Zealand. via Australia, on Aucuat 23. She will make Auckland her ilrst port of call in tho Dominion.
The Italian barque Bcecroft, which left Marseilles on April 7 for the Bluff, Dunedin, and Lyttelton with a cargo of 800,CC0 tiles, is now ICB days out, and should be neariug the Bluff, Tho Moaua will go into commission on Wednesday next, when she will leave Dunedin for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Sydney direct. "" At the end of this week the Kamona will leave Edithburg for Dunedin direct. Captain E. T. Smith, late of the Faparoa, is reported to be in 'command of the Now Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rimut-aka, in place of Captain R. T. Clifford, who remained at Home on sick leave. The A. and A. Lino steamer Indrani, from New York, via Melbourne, spent some days at Beauty Point, Tasmania, landing cargo. Bho left thero on Wednesday for Auckland, where she is due about 1 . Monday next. After calling at Wellington tho Indrani is due at Lyttelton about August 5. A telegram from Foxton states that tho Kapuni did not leave there on Saturday night as expected, owing to being aground in the river. Tho steamer Nairnshire is expected to leave Lyttelton for Dunedin this evening to complete the discharge of her cargo. The \New Zealand Shipping Company's st-eamor Kaikoura, which arrived at Dunedin on Thursday last- from London, did the trip in 44 days. The weather throughout the voyage was exceptionally fine. Captain A. W. 31'Kellar is .in command, and his staff are: Deck Officers: Chief, Mr. Wybrants Olphert; second, Mr. G. E. Fox; third, Mr. H. J. Wilde; fourth, Mr. D. Cron : dace; surgeon, Dr. T. 'Farewell Spit Lighthouse reported yesterday that the Poherua and Ngahere passed there at 4.10 and 4.40 p.m. respectively, bouud from Greymouth to Wellington. Word has been received that the Ciilderprove passed Wilson's Promontory on Thursday evening last bound for Auckland. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer is expected to-day from Napier, and sails for London on Thursday. On the completion of the discharge of her cargo at San Francisco, the Union Company's training ship Bartford will.load Oregon timber at Eureka- Humboldt Bay, about 240 miles north of San Francisco, for an Australian port. Captaiu J. F. S. Brown, late of the Waim\i, has been appointed # master the Kakapo, in place of Captain Nepham, who has come ashore for orders. The Union Steam Ship Company have chartered the steamer Anglo-Mexican to load coal at Newcastle next week for Lyttelton and Timaru.

At a recent meeting of the Liverpool Shipowners' Association consideration was given to the Board of Trade's request for an opinion with reference to certain proposed new signals for the prevention of collision at sea. The opinion of the meeting was unanimously against tho proposals on the ground that it is undesirable ,to add to tho number of signals already in use, and that a multiplication of signals would only tend to mistakes and confusion.
Some idea of the difficulties connected with the bar-harbours of New South "Wales, (says the Sydney correspondent of Lloyd'ij List) is furnished by a report from the North Coast Company, showing the delays and accidents experienced by their vessels at the entrance to the Manning. During 1939 the Htcamor Eleotra was bar-bound 22 days, aground two- days, delayed in Sydney four days, and once struck the breakwater. The Burrawang was bar-bound four' days, dolayed in Sydney four days, aground five days, and eventually wrecked. The Eureka was bar-bound five days, and the Myee 11 days. The Pyrmont was bar-bound 10 days and delayed eight days. The Rosedalo was bar-bound seven days, and delayed two days. During the Jew months of this year tho Electra was bar-bound seven days, delayed four days, once had to return to Sydney, and onoc lost her rudder and was towed home. The Prymont was bar-bound 12 days, and the Myee 10 days. The Minnimbah was bar-bound three days and then wreckcd.
