(Prom Oar Spceial Correspondents."; » —: CARTERTON. The guessing competition at the South Wairarapa l'oultry, Pigeon and Cage Bird Association's show was won by Air. H. (ioodin, who guessed the correct weight of tho bantam, rooster, and turkey, viz., 2.'1!1b. Two others, Air. H. Gcodin (i'ark Road) and Jlr. 11. Aladeley (Alasterlon) also guessed correctly, but were unsuccessful in the draw off. Mr. Cioodin gained second place. RATA. The Rata school concert aud dance was held in tho local hall on Friday evening, and proved a success from start to finish. Tho items given by the children wore well rendered, all tho songs and recitations being given without the least sign of breakdown or hesitation, a fact which reflects credit oil the head teacher (Mr. ltoche) and his assistant (Miss i'indlay). The proceedings wound up with a dance. A credit balance of about ,£7 is anticipated after expenses, are paid, and this will go to the credit of the local School Committee's special fund'.
