Our Palraerston correspondent telegraphs:—Still another of our pioneer settlers has passed away in Mr. Chas. Tricklebaak, who died here on Thursday, aged 81 years. Deceased arrived in the colony in the year 1856 in the ship Oliver Lang on her first trip to this country. He took up residence at ■ Johnsonville, where he remained for three or four .years,- and afterwards went to Foxton, with his wife and young family. In 18(i(3 Mr. Tricklebank then decided to remove to Palmcrston North. In those days Palmerston was .but a wilderness, and Mr. Tricklebank, with others, sot liimseH the task of laying the foundations of a town. He became established , as a brick and pipe manufacturer in Palmerston, carrying on business until 1888, when he went to Melbourne, returning hero again in 1894. From hero he went to the Waipawa, and commenced business with his son, Charles, as a brickmalcor, retiring from business nbout nine years ago. He took up his residence in Palmerston once more, about two years ago. Some time ago Mr. Tricklebank was knockod down by a cyclist, and the shock was so great that he never really recovered from it. Deceased leaves a wife, 10 daughters, two sons, 87 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. His daughters are:—Mrs. A. Henderson (Hu.ntervillp), Mrs. G. R. Young (Pal mevston North),- Mrs. F. Overend (Wellington), Mrs. R. Kirkjiatriek (Stoney Creek), Mrs. J. King Malvern (Melbourne;, Mrs. TT. Parker. (Melbourne), Mrs. 0. C. Richards (Dunolly, Victoria), ' Mrs. T. H. Lane (Palmerston North). Mrs. R. P. Edwards (Palmerston North), and Mrs. A. M'Murtrio fKimbolton). His sons are Mr. Chas. Tricklebank, of Porangahau, and .Mr. Georgo C. Tricklebank, of Auckland. ,
