Lord 'Carrington, President of the Board of Agriculture, in replying in the House of Lords to Lord Shuttleworth stated that eight animals on a farm at Kirkby Malzeard, Yorkshire, were suffering from foot and mouth disease. The movement of all animals over a wide surrounding area had been prohibited, and the( local authorities throughout Great Britain had. been warned' that foot and mouth disease had reappeared in England. The Chief Veterinary Officer to the Board of Agriculture was proceeding to Yorkshire to advise as to the steps to be taken.
