GODWIT FROM SIBERIA.
THEIR VISITS HERB. ■The acclimatisation delegation yes* terday recommended to the Hon. Mr. Uuddo that godwit be removed from the list of birds in respect u> which a close season is observed every third year, and that the open, soa-sun for godwit extend in every year from February 1 to April 30. The godwit ia a migratory bird of the snipe family. It comes to this country from Siberia m the beginning of the year, and remains for about four months. The Minister agreed with the deputation that the godwit had probably been included to the protected list by mistake, and thought the season might open in January instead of February, since, in the first-named month, the birds would! be strong upon the wmg.
