William Henry M'Farlane, charged with assaulting William Henry Trcngrove, was convicted and fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment. ,Trengrove. was also similarly dealt with for using threatening behaviour in Feathorston Strcot, with to provoke a breach of the poaco. Evidenc.o for the prosecution was to the effect that Trengroyo wished to get his taxi-cab on the rank and in order to :dosd it was necessary to.inovo M'Farlane's express back a few feet. ; M'Farlane objected and became pugnacious. ; His -Worship - remarked that thero appeared to have been threatening behaviour on tho part of Trengrove, but M'Farlano was largely .to blame. Each was equally culpable and.was fined as stated. Mr. J. J. M'Grath appeared for M'Farlano. OTHER CASES. William M'Guiro, charged with. the. theft of six kits valued at 65., tho property of' some person or persons unknown/ was, on tho application ofChief Delootivo Broherg, remanded to July 25.;5V.-;-- ■ . For allowing a chimney to catch firo Joseph Lissanf Paletliorpe was fined os., with costs 7s. On a charge of leaving their vehicles unattended, Harry Clark and J. Sponce wore ouch fined 10a., with 7b. costs, and G. Dybing, P. J. Do Souza, and F. Martin were fined 55., with costs' 7s. ■ ■ • ■ ' ' For driving an unlicensed carriage, Jamos- Albert Jeff was fined £1, with costs 7s. . . ■ • . . . . ■ Thomas Bowden, charged with failing to register his dog, was fined 55., with costs 75., and Charles Good, for a similar offence, was ordered to pay costs amounting to 7s. Joseph Angus was convicted and fined 103., or 48 hours ill guol for insobriety, and for assaulting Constable J Whito while in the execution of his J duty was further lined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment. Patrick Dillon, ulinrgml with boni); found helplessly drunk, was remanded for curative treatment. James Uyrne, charged with drunkenness (mid with numurous previous convictions), was declared to be an habitual drunkard, and was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. The magistrate also ordered that a prohibition order " should' be" issued' against him.
Laura Fanny Garner, chargerl with a breach of a prohibition order, was cpnvicted and fined £2 and costs 135., in default 7 days' imprisonment. ■ Two first olfoiulers wore lined 55., or 24 hours, each..
