OTAKI HOSPITAL.

: <) MORE INFORMATION WANTED. A. sharp passage between Mr. R. C. Kirk and Mr. J. J. Devine took place at the- meeting of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday afternoon, when the report of tho Hospital Committee 011 the condition and progress of the Otaki Hospital Sanatorium was being discussed. The committee reported that during tho month of June 43 patients were admitted to the Otaki Hospital, and seven discharged. Three patients were admitted to tho sanatorium, and one discharged. Mr, Devine complained that the report did not contain sufficient information. Were there any deaths? Wero the patients who were discharged, thoroughly cured? Mr. Kirk objected to the attitude taken up by Mr. Devine. That gentleman was a member of the committee, and if iu his opinion matters were not as they should be, he (Mr. Devine) must accept somo responsibility. Mr. Devine, with warmth: I entirely object to being lectured by Mr. Kirk. Continuing, he said that it was his (Mr. Kirk's) duty to see that complete and accurate reports wero prepared for the information of the board as a whole. Mr. Fitzgerald also had a complaint. Earlier in tho proceedings a complimentary letter from an ex-patient of the Wellington Hospital had been read, tho. board being congratulated. He had received a letter from a person 111 the city, telling a different story, serious complaints being made against the management. He had handed in that, letter to the secretary. Why had it not .been read? They shonld hear both sides, he said. Mr. Kirk, ill reply, said that he wished it to bo understood that all correspondence of the nature referred to by Mr. Fitzgerald received tho fullest consideration and investigation. The. board eould" l-est assured on that point. Further, complaints wero referred to the medical staff for report. The report was adopted.
