Two years ago (says the.' "Wanganui Herald") the Oturi Co-operative Dairy. Company started with fourteen suppliers, and with Captain Johnston as chairman of . directors. Tho first year's work proved 6iicccssful, no less a sum' than 12.48 d, being paid per pound for butter-fat. This year, too, the company have met with ynccess. There are now twenty-three suppliers to th« company. The amount paid • out for butter-fat was J6796G 2s. 4dJ completed cheese sales brought .£7974 17s. 3d., and checso at present on consignment totals -82G64 7s. The rough balance-sheet shows a gross profit of 19s. 2d. Of this .£93 15s. 3d. will be written off for ; depreciation on buildings, plant, and machinery, leaving a net balance of ,£1272 3s. 10d. From this the directors propose to pay out, a bonus, making the price paid for butter-fat reach Is. per pouhd. The remaining will bo carried forward for next year's working. ' . . ' The Taranaki Agricultural Society is seeking information regarding certain blight which is alleged to bq destroying blackberry. Taranaki could wfill do with a blackberry-killer, especially North Taranaki. Tho pest is bad in parts of the province, and some farmers have introduced goats to eat it out. Some people, however, find goats nearly aa great pests aa the weed.
