Wairarapa Weddings. A wedding, of interest to Carterton as well as Forty Mile Bush settlers took place at Hukanui on Wednesday, when Mr. W. 0. Twentymau, son of Mr. W. Twentyinan, of Hukanui, was married to Miss Agnes Foss, third daughter of tho late Mr. Samuel Foss, formerly of Carterton. .The ceremony \yas performed by the Rev. Mr. Walker, of Eketahuna, in tho Hukanui Public Hall, in presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Misses Edith. Foss (sister of the bride) and Twentyinan (sister of tho bridegroom) acted as ' bridesmaids. Mr. G. Twentymau was best man, and Mr. "Bert" Foss groomsman. A large number of guests were entertained at breakfast at the residence of the bride's mother. The wedding presents were numerous, serviceable, and costly. The gift of the bridegroom to the bride was a handsome gold bracelet, and to the pearl and amethyst brooches. Mr. and Mrs. Twentyinan left by the midday train for Napier on their honeymoon tour. A' second wedding was celebrated at Hukanui on Wednesday, when Mr. R. A. Brew, a popular blacksmith of the district, was married to Miss Brew, a cousin. Dance at .Petone. Our Tctono correspondent writes:—On Wednesday evening tho Petone Ladies* Hockey Club held their annual dance, in the local Drill ll'all. There were about ISO guests present, including the Mayor and lady Mayoress. Tho hall iras appropriately decorated with'the club's colours, palo and dark blue, and the supper-room presented an imposing appearance, the table being daintily arranged with vases of narcissus. Miss Elect (club captain) wore a cream frock; Miss Bailey, white empire gown; Miss Taylor, pink silk; Mrs. Sherman, pretty blue go\v?.i; Miss Ball, white net trimmed with gold; Miss Battersly, white satin; Mrs. Bailey, black silk: Mrs. Lile, white silk and net. Miss Effie Young, secretary of the Kia Ora Centre of the Girls' Realm Guild, leaves early.next month on a visit lo Miss Young was tho first New Zealamler to join the guild. When in England, whore she will be connectcd with the guild, she will act' as a sort of special correspondent to the various centres throughout New Zealand.
