On the motion of Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr, Yearbury, it was resolved tliat the postmaster, \vangnnui, be written to retiuusling that the li a.m. mail be reinstated on Mondays, and alsc that ho be asked to appoint a cadet to---"" assist the postmaster. A copy of this resolution is to be sent to Mr. Jas. Stevens, Inspector of Post Offices, Palmers- . ton North. Mr. Bankart proposed, and Mr, Woollett seconded, a resolution to the cil'ect that the Public Works Department be requested to clear the portion of Miharo Street extending from Piwari Street' to Section . 19, western end of the . township; that a culvert be constructed over the creek at the eastern end of Nei Street, and that fascines or slabs be put down to make tho road there passable. Regarding accounts submitted by 31r. Snow 1 for surveying Ruapehu track (£7 10s.) and three months' salary (J!3) it was decided that the payments made by Messrs. Wallace and Snith bo confirmed, that 1 the balance in hand be handed to Mr. Snow on account of same, and that «E3 for three inonths' salary be paid to Mr. Show. The meeting decided tliat the ' erection of a Town. Hall was urgently needed. Mr. Wallace attended with plans showing hall space 40 feet by 50 feet, with attendant ante-room, the whole cssting .£320. The committee considered that tho hall should be GO feet long by 30 feet widn, and ill. Wallaco was requested to prepare plans on this basis. Mr. Woollett proposed, and Mr. Sigley seconded, a resolution to the effect that Messrs. Saunders and Snow bo deputed to collect at least j£2o and pay same into the Bank of New Zealand, ltaetihi, in the names of Messrs. Saunders and Snow, who will act as temporary trustees__ou behalf of the future trustees who will be- elected at a public meeting of subscribers under the Libra- • ries and Mechanics' Institute Act. Tho following subscriptions were promised at the meeting towards tho above .£2O:Jlr. Wilson; ,£I; Mr. Saunders, .£1; Mr. Sigle.v, and Mr. Woollett, i!l.
