CANADIAN CROPS.
'FAILURE IN'MANY DISTRICTS. EFFECTS OF DROUGHT. Uy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Rec. July 22, 1.5 a.m.)\ j' London, July 21. The "Daily Mail's" Winnipeg correspondent reports that the . crop in Western Canada will not i. exceed 42,000,000 \ bushels of wheat. It is practically a failure in. many" districts. . « Manitoba expects 40 per cent, of the tverage of the past few years; ' Saskat- . chewan, 70 per cent.; Alberta 45 per cent. The situation as regards feed ■ crops promises a 40 per cent. crop. Hay is short and the root crops very bad. In the districts northward of the Ca-nadian-Pacific main line, the position is satisfactory, the . drought teing chiefiy confined to the older-settled districts, and there will be some exports of wheat. Crops in the North-West are bad in some places and fairly good in others. . Those in Ontario, Quebec, and the maritime provinces are' above the average. The general outlook is hopeful.
