FURTHER DETAILS. ' A scheme for, supplying water to the Borough of Eastbourne from the Gollan's Valley Stream was mentioned in yesterday's Dominion. The* engineer (Mr. Rounthwaite) estimates that a dam could be constructed, a 22-chain-long tunnel, bored through the hill, and ■ the water conducted into the residential area of the borough at a cost of J23000, and that for another ,£2500 the whole of the borough could be reticulated, thus giving a water supply (for an estimated population of 20;000) for ,£5500. It , may be mentioned that this scheme was one of the planks in Mr. Short's platform when, contesting, the Mayoralty in April last.
