V INQUEST AT THE MORGUE. At the morgue yesterday afternoon the City Coroner, Mr. W> R. Haselden, S.M., hold an inquiry into circumstances touching, the death of Thomas. Lano, labourer;, ageil 46, who expired suddenly at his .residence, 217 Tarauaki Street, about' 7 a.m. on July 18. Elizabeth Lino, wjfe of ' deceased, stated _iu evidence that her husband had suffered for three years from an ulcerated stomach, and had been an inmate of tins hospital on several oravsions. During this time he had not been able to do any work, but started last week iii a ctialyard, hilt after working for a week complained of pain and of not being able to /cat.' He was very ill all Sunday night',' and Dr. Mackin was called in on i>!ondny morning, bui arrived only in time to pronounco life extinct. Dr. William , Kingtoii Fyfte, who made a post-mtirtftri, stated that' death was caused through ia gabtriii ulcer rupture, fpHpwed by acute peritonitis, and ultimately syncope. , Th'e•-Coroner ,, "returned a verdict in accordance witlrthe medical evidence. THE SAWMILL ACCIDENT. George Benjamin Auckran, who was seriously injured-in a sawmill accident at the Upper Hutt on Mqnday afternoon, is progressing favourably at the , hospital. ' , ACCIDENTALLY SHOT DEAD. (By Telegraph-Press Association.) Dunedin, July 19. The Inspector of Police has received the following telegram from the constable at St. Bathans: —"Three- youths named William Lockhart (20 years of ago), Herbert Jopson (17), and Leslie Perry (13) were out shooting at Oturehua (Rough Rjdgo) yesterday, wheoi Perry accidentally shot Lockhart in the head, killing him instantaneously."
