SUMMARY AND FOEECAST. Tho barometer has risen steadily in the North Island, but (slowly and irregularly in tho South. Strong southerly and westerly winds have iprovaiicd, with gales in Foveaux Strait and in other places at times. Showery weather has prevailed on ths western coast of both islands, and in the southernmost districts, with heavy snowfall ou tho rajiges in parts of tho South Island. Prewnt indications are, for cold and changeable, weather generally, with strong south-westerly winds.
