LODGE MEETING.
The postponed half-yearly meeting of the 'Hibernian Society, St. _ Patrick's branch, was concluded "last night, there being a largo attendance of members. Tha newly-elected officers were duly installed by Bro. E. Caxrigan, P.P. The feature of the evening was the presentation of a framed past.presidents certificate from the society and a past president's collar from his lodge friends to the retiring president, Bro. J. "\V. CallaghaiL The presentation, was made on behalf, of the members by the Very Kcv.j Dean Eegnault, S.M., Provincial of the Marist Order in New Zealand. . The reverend gentleman referred in glowing terms to the many fine qualities of Bro. J. W. Cal-: laghan as a Hibernian, an Irishman, and a Catholic. Although himself a Frenchman lie exhorted those present to be true Irishmen. He had a great regard for Ireland and Ireland's sons. Bro. Callaghan, in replying, thanked the dean for* his kind remarks, the branch, and the officers and friends who so kindly presented him with presents, which would be treasured. Ho would always continue to do his best to further the interests ofjthe society. : Bro. Doherty' also supplemented the- dean's remarks. Cheers were given for Bro. and Mrs. Callaghai.
