Japan has the GermanJapanese Treaty.of Commerce and Navigation, also the,-Consular Treaty of 1896, and the convention (with regard to. the tariff) supplementary to the former tr.eaty. ', (Rec. July 19, 0.50 a.m.) 1 , Tokio, July 18, Notices of the termination of Japan's commercial treaties in 1911 have been sent to all the European countries concerned, including Great Britain. CHINA ASKS. FOR OFFICERS: Berlin, July 17. China' is asking Germany for officers to- undertake the. work of reorganising the Chinese army. GERMAN OPINIONS. BRITAIN BOUND TO FARE WORST. (Rec. July 19, 1.15 a.ni.) London, July 18. The "Times" Berlin, correspondent states that Germany is negotiating a new treaty, and expects'to make considerable concessions to Japan. German imports, it is anticipated, will in consequence rise, while exports thither will fall, but the exports will still greatly exceed the imports. , The "Frankfurter Zeitung," discussing the prospects of the treaty in relation to ,other countries, remarks that /Britain is bound to fare worst. '
