♦ — IMPENDING STRIKE AVERTED. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. (Rec. July 17, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 16. The conference between the Lancashire master cotton spinners and the operativos has been successful in averting a strike. It has . been agreed that the employers' demands for a five per centum reduction in wages shall be withdrawn, , provided that neither side attempts to alter the present scale of wages during the next five years.
