Mr.' Robert M'Nab, who lectured here last night to a largo audience on early Now Zealand, left to-day for Palmerston/ where he lectures to-night in. aid ot' the Captain Cook Memorial. They are mostly living under canvas, and there are several • camps on-vacant allotments in town. Commenting thereon, the "Herald" says: "These camps invariably become insanitary, menaces both to Maoris and Europeans, aroTit seems opportune to repeat- what is nearly everyone's opinion, that the Native Department should see to it that proper accommodation is provided for those Maoris whose business bring* them to town."
