SECOND DAY. tfST OF ADDITIONAL AWARDS.-. •CONFERENCE MATTERS. Wet weather interfered somewhat with ihe Winter Show t'o-day, but', nevertheless, there was a . great attendance, • and the buildings were crowded a]) day. The Taranaki v. Manawalu Rugby football match was an additional attraction. Generally speaking, the people of the province axe delighted with the show, and visitors' give it high praise. A number bf Palmerston agriculturists were. present Ito-day, and highly, oommeaided .the exhibition. , • In the poultry section the leading, features were the Icglioms.and black orpingl6ns. A- bird of special merit -was -the brown leghorn, cockerel exhibited by Mr. D. Stewart,. •of . Normanby, which . repeated its Palmerston performance, of carrying off the honours. In black orpingtons Mr. C. L. Bridges, of Arasmoho, secured most of the. awards.. He exhibited the same birds which he sent to the Hastings Championship Show, at Which fixture he was second throughout ito, Mr. Stonner, the successful Auckland Ireeder. Apart from the English setters, Irisli Betters, spaniels, and bull dogs, few of the (exhibits in the dog classes call for special mention. A typical Maltese terrier was {penned for exhibition only. In the cat section there were several splendid .specimens of the Persian breed, all of which excelled in coat.
