-9 BURIAL .AT.PARIHAKA, (By Telegraph—Press Association.! New Plymouth, July 14. Tlio burial of Taare Waitara took place at Parihaka yesterday, in the preseuco of a large gathering of Natives. He was buriecl alongside To Whiti, liis father-in-law. The service was coriducted by Mr. 11. D. Bates, deceased'shalfbrother, who gave an eloquent address, and paid a high tribute to Waitara's noble qualities. He also advised the Maoris "to work their lands and avoid intoxicating drinks. It is understood that Mr. Bates,' who inherits Waitara's rich estate, lias appointed Sirs. Waitara and her brother, Willie te Whiti, to succeed Waitara as head of the Ngatinwa tribe. At a large gathering of Natives on Tuesday night, Dr. I'omare was present, Ami paid an eloquent tribute to Waitara.
