COMPENSATION BILL.
NEW SOUTH WALES MEASURE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, July 11. An amended Workers' Compensation Bill hiis been introduced in the New South Wales Parliament by the Premier (Mr. Wade). It defines u " workman " to mean any person of any age or either sex who, under contract to an employer (made before or. after the commencement of the Act), is engaged in manual labour. Compensation where death results and dependents are left wholly dependent un deceased's earnings at the time of death is fixed at a sum equal to deceased's earnings for the three years preceding, or two hundred pounds, whichever amount is the larger.' In a case where there are 110 dependents compensation covers medical and burial expenses, .not exceeding £12. In case of total or partial incapacity after the'second week, payment is to be made of a sum not exceeding 50 per centum of the ordinary weekly wage, with a maximum of a pound weekly, the total liability not to exceed one hundred . pounds. Employers will no.t be liable where the "injury does not disable the workman for a period of at least two,-weeks, or in respect to injuries directly attributable to his own serious or wiltul misconduct. ,
