Middlemore, Unionist member for Birmingham North, that, excluding the armoured cruisers for the Dominions, 'ten British and fifteen armoured ships'were now under construction or ordered. NAVAL ECONOMY WANTED. ' LIBERALS PROTESTING. (Rec. July 14, 11.10 p.m.) London, Juiy 11. At a. meeting of upwards of forty Liberal members of the House of Commons, Mr. J; A. Murray. M'Donald (Falkirk Burghs). presiding, it Was decided to forward to Mr. Asquith an emphatic protest against the new shipbuilding vote. Some difference of opinion was expressed regarding the desirability of dividing • againpt the Government in view of the gravity of the constitutional issue. LATEST OFFICIAL FIGURES. The Admiralty in May last published the annual "Dilke Return," giving particulars, so far. ,as they can. ascertain, of every war vessel less than twenty years old in the service of Great Britain, France, Russia, '-Germany, Italy, the United States, and Japan. ; The return shows all battleships and armoured cruisers of each'' Navy which have been launched since March 31, 1890. The tables, summarised, show the following results:— BATTLESHIPS, Built. ,Building.
