MASTERTON NOTES.
• AN OFFER B1 T MR. PERRY. (From Our Special CorresDondenU , Masterton, July 12. The offer made by Mr. AVilliam Perry, the- well-known Lincoln sheep-breeder, of "Penrose," Masterton, of ten acres of land for experimental purposes, is ono which it is hoped the Government will havo no hesitation in accepting. The land is situated near the main road, and is in the- centre of an extonsive agricultural and pastoral_ district. Mr. Perry is an ex-president of tlio Masterton A. and P. Association, and is now ono of its most industrious members. Me "is '_ a .strong advocate of experimenting with cereals and grass. The offer is to bo made ■to-tho Government through tho A. ami I". Association.
Tho council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce will meet on Friday next, when tho report of the delegates to tho Kaihvay Conference at J'.-ilmer-ston North will probably bo brought down. Tho proposal to hold a show of industries here has met with public approval, but evidently the chamber has not yet matured its plans. Inspector Ellison, of Wellington, was on an official visit to Masterton today.
The Masterton Parliamentary Union met last evening, when the now "Ministry," of which Mr. Edwards is "Premier," brought down its policy. The union is a very live institution, and its debates aro closely watched by members of tho public. Miss lorns, a popular member of tho teaching skiff of the Lansdownc School, has been appointed assistant teacher at the Normal School at Wellington, and will take up her new appointment as soon as n successor is appointed.
