TRIANCULAR MATCHES.

SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKET TOUR. • (Rec. July 12, 11.40 p.m.) London, July 12. Lord Harris, speaking at tho Cricketors'.Fund Friendly Society's meeting, said he earnestly hoped that every effort would bo made to bring about tho proposed triangular matches. Marry cricketers longed to see tho result- of a South AFrican tour in Aus« tralia, where th-3- Africans' peculiar bowling would bo tested on very fast wickets.

The recent _ decision of the • South African Association' not to snnd a team to Australia means breaking iaith with the Imperial conference. Part of t'h© agreement then made was tho visit of tho English team to South Africa last season; that tour, took place. It is now South Africa's turn to visit Australia. It was.consequent on South Africa's agreeing to do so that tho Australian Soard of Control consented to the triangular scheme. Failing a visit during the coming season, -the remainder of ike programme drawn up at Lords, Juno twelve months ago, will lapse. Australia will not meet South Africa in England until the latter carries out its undertaking, and it is difficult to see how England can rcceivo South Africa for tho same reason.

BOWLS.

Tho members of the Wellington Bowling Club will bo the guests of the vicepresident (Mr. A. Wylie) to-night, when the entertainment will take tho form of a combined bridge and euchre tournament.
