DUKE'S CLOSE CALL.
HYDROPLANE CAPSIZES. DUKE OP WESTMINSTER SINKS TWICE. fcf Tolearanh— l'reas Association—CoDvrleht. London, July 10. The Duke of Westminster was travelling in a hydroplane boat to-day, at Cowes, at a speed of 35 knots, when the craft turned too sharply. There was a strong tide running, and the hydroplane capsizod and sank. All the four occupants were rescued. (Rec. July 11, 10.50 p.m.) London, July 11. The Dnko of Westminster's launch was some distance behind tho hydroplane. Mr. Robins,, representing the motor company, and two mechanics, clung to the upturned hydroplane. The Duke, after struggling under tho weight of a big mackintosh, drifted seaward for a distance of fifty yards. no sank once, and Mr. Robins, noticing his distress, swam towards him, and was just noaring him when the Duke soak again, but ho was pullod to the surface, again, and was pulled to the snrfnee. Both were taken aboard tho launch. The Duke was unconscious, and recovered only after artificial respiration had been tried for some time.
He returned to London not much tho worse for his thrilling narrow escape.
