Melbourne, July 11. Mr. H. Ord, Chief Inspector of Factories in Victoria, was killed by being thrown from his horse.

A discharged revolver has been found at Prospect Dam, near where the body of John Cryer, formerly of Pembroke, Central Otago, was found a year ago. The body, it will be remembered, was only recently identified on exhumation by peculiarities in tho deceased's teeth. At one time foul play was suspected iu connection with tho death. It is now thought that Cryer shot himself. BROKEN HILL OUTPUT. m . . Sydney, July 10. Ihe mineral exports from Broken. Hill for tho half-year ending on Juno 30, amounted to ,£1,102,000.
MYSTERIOUS VESSEL. Perth, July 11. The mysterious vessel eecn near Maud's Landing by the natives at the ond of May, nnd rumoured to bo a Japanese warship secretly surveying the coast is now supposed to have been a vessel fishing for beche-de-mer.
