SMPPING WARNED.
Captain Johnson, lwrbouriu&etci, has received advice from the superintendent of the Eastern Extension Cable Uouipauy that tho cable steamer Iris, which is at present searching for a break in tho eablo about 24(1 miles from Wukapuaka, has placed a number of buoys in latitude 3?dcg. S., longitude m.6deg. E. Masters of ships are warned to Ueep clear o£ the buoys. Expected, arrivals at this port to-day include the To Anau and the Komata, with coal from Westport. The Kurow is due from tho same port on Thursday. Last evening the Manaroa resumed her running after annual overhaul, and sailed for Motucka. The Mana, of the Patca Shipping Company's fioet, resumed running yesterday after overhaul. The Kapuni is at present withdrawn for annual overhaul. Any anxiety that may have been felt for the uafety of the scow Ngaru is now dispelled. The vessel arrived at Blacit Point, Pelorus Sound, yesterday, having been over a fortnight on the voyage from Wellington. According to a telegram received by the local agents, tho vessel has been sheltering at Port Underwood. Yesterday the Government steamer Hiiiemoa was at Timaru. She is due to-day at Dunedin, via Moeraki. A Press Association telegram states that the steamer Indian Monarch, bound from Valparaiso to Newcastle, put into Auckland yesterday for bunker coal. Tho Breeze is due hero from southern ports on Sunday next. Repairs to the schooner Falcon, rendered necessary by collision at Blackball last month, are being carried out at this port. Disehargo of the Indradevi's cargo ig now taking place at Taranaki Street Wharf. On Sunday night the Ilolradale arrived at Kohukohu to load timber for Welling: ton. Word by the Australian mail statea that the steamer Pnpanui, which, struck an uncharted rock on the Tasmanian coast a few months ago, and sustained serious damage, will probably be towed to Sydney for repairs. The seuior engineer surveyor of the Marino Board recently examined tiic vessel, and reported that it would be necessary to renew 56 plates, and to her seaworthy. Ponding this work being carried out, tho board ordered the vessel to be detained. It is estimated that tho repairs will cost about £25,000.
