This morniiis several of the candidates will 1» schooled. Maidi and Arc-light reached the course last night from iVsiklinj?. The former is engaged in tho steeplechase events, and tho latter in tho hurdles. Tho well-known Auckland jockey, Mark Ryan, who brought Ngapuka and Dowserbank to Ticnthaiu, is making his first appearance at the course, though he was formerly a frequent visitor at the old Hutt course.
C. PrJtehard's team for tho Wellington Racing Club's meeting will not be taken to Trenthani until the day of 'the races.
Swnrthmoor has been sold to Mr. C. J. Parker, for 250 guineas.

Te Arai has never been beaten in a jumping race at Gislic-rne. Ho has won five hurdle events aud two steeplechases there during the past couple of seasons.
Trentham trainer J. Lowe leaves Wellington for Sydney on July 29. In addition to three horses from his ovin stable, he will take across a half-sister to Multifid, the property of Mr. D. O'Brien.
Full Cry is showing good form in schooling efforts over tho big country, and was quite as good as Le Beau in a turn over the fences at Napier Park ono morning last week.
Te Ai'ji and Continuance arrive hero from Gisborm; by the Victori.-v on Friday next, and will be taken on to Trentham. It appears that Continuance- struck himself slightly while schooling at Gisborne la-a: week.
Winning jockeys at the Gisborne meeting were:—A. Julian, five; B. Deeley, threo; R, Lambess, two; W. Young, J. Heroock, G. Phillips, and B. Gray,' one each.

As was anticipated, the Oaks winner KusL'bud is identical with tho St. l''rusquin—ltosalino lilly, who wus ulinainiid when she ran into a place in Ihe One Thousand. Winkinop, w)io won the lastmentioned race, was favourite for tho Oaks, but was not one of the first four to finish; nor was Maid of Corinth, while Uosebud won in a cantor. There were eleven runners.
Mr. Lan Duncan has received a eublo from Mr. J. B. Kcid stating tlmt the two horses the latter has purchased in England are Downshire and Varco. They are purchased on the joint account of Messrs. Ktid and Duncan, and will bo shipped by tho Atlienic, leaving London next Thursday week. Downshiro is by Ayrshire—tieudown, by Orvicto—New Zealand, by Isonumy—Australia, by Hermit, etc., and will stand at Elderslic. lie won a number of unimportant races in England. Varco is by Marco— Vara, by St. Angelo—Cheap Loaf, by lsonomy— Broadfinder, by Brownbread". He won last year's Woodcote Stakes, and- ran tho six furlongs in lmin. -10 Msec, beating Neil Gow. ,It lias not been decided yet where Varco will take- up stud duties.
