WANTED AN ANGEL VOICE
The new mystic play, "The Passing of the Third Floor Back," is now being played in Sydney with great success. Mr. Matheson Lang, the manager, tells the story of how jn Sydney tho difficulty of the "angel voice," which is twice heard in the play, was eventually overcome in Sydney. The "assorted" boarders, enbdued and transformed under the influence of the mysterious visitant, "the ftranger," hear a heavenly voice singing out of doers. The window is thrown up. Mid sweet soaring tones fill the room. Looking down the street from the window above, the artist-h.vird?r exclaims, amazed. "There is no otic there," and a hush falls upon their, all ;is they listen. All forts of voice? »riY! tried at rehearsal, women's voices C'i'ls* voices, tenor voices, but nono sonnt'.c! ethereal, spiritual,celestial enough. It seemed impossible to proeuro any evivyday voice that would entirely Iul!il •■he author's meaning. At length ono r 'f the theatre staff, in speaking of the difficulty, obtained from a schoolboy the information, quite unTOiiqht, that at Ms fchool there wns o boy" whom they nick-named for fun "The Boy Angel." That was enough for Mr. Loin!! to go on. "Bring him along," said ho to the official. So they found the hoy ont, and tho astonished youth was asircd U> come and sin? tn the mnnagers. His nvither wnsmting, he camo, his voice, a pure and lovely one, was tried, and exoctly filled the bill. Hβ sings a beautiful angclic-so'.mding strain, without words, in tho epilogue.
