Dunedin, July 11. At the inquest on tho death of the old man, J. ll'Connell, who was killed at the Rattray Street level goods crossing on Friday evening, the jury returned a verdict of accidental death, and added a rider affirming that greater precautions should be taken at this crossing, and suggesting the lowering of an iron fence and the erection of warning bells; also, that, one porter was insufficient for the safety of the public during shunting operations.
