SERVICE AT THE Y.M.C.A.

At the men's service in the "V.M.C.A. Rooms yesterday afternoon, the Kcv. J. J. North spoke on tin; evils of gambling. Tliere was a. good attendance of young men, and Mr. H. N. Holmes presided. Air. North said that his antipathy t<! gambling aropc before he entered the ministry! The evil of gambling came. homo, to him when he saw yourg men's lives ruined through their addiction to betting. He deplored the iniquity o( the two legalised forms of gambling, and urged that the public should ink Parliament to roptvil the clause in the Gaming Act which legalised bookmakers.

The address was listened to with attention, and the meeting showed sympathy with the cruside now in progress against gambling.
