ANOTHER LETTER TO THE MINISTER FOR LABOUR.

He still says in effect 'We want a Dominion Award, but it must 'be considered at the placc we desire, and must be made on terms we have laid down.' With regard to Mr. Laracy's suggested conference, I may state that I am in communication with the executive of the New Zealand- Sheepowners' Federation, and am 'hopeful that some arrangement will be mado whereby the terms for a Dominion Award shall be mutually agreed upon. It is obvious, however, that the conditions proposed by Mr. Laraey as tho basis for discussion cannot be agreed to, as these, it will be admitted, must bo left to the conference itself to deckle; and in view of tho Arbitration Court sitting in Christchurch on Thursday next to consider tho Canterbury shearers' dispute, it will bo impossible to arrange a conference at any other place, as if a- settlement is not arrived at the' Canterbury case will have to bo proceeded with before the Court."
