DEAR BRICKS
NEW SOUTH WALES COMPLAINTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, July 8. In the Legislative Assembly, Mr. C. G. Wade, the Premier, was asked if it was intended to take action regarding the brick combine. Ho replied that information obtained had entirely failed to bear out tho charge levelled against tJic combine.
Questions were recently asked in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as to the doings of tho "brick combine." It was stated tho combine had increased the price of bricks by Is. a thousand, giving as a reason tho higher wages awarded in the industry by the State Wages Board. These, it was alleged, on tho other side, only amounted to an' increase'of 7-Sd- per thousand. Mr. Wade, in replying said: "I understand that some brick manufacturers have, increased (ho price of bricks, and I have seen a statement in tho press that tho increase is duo to the increased cost of production. I am unable to say how much per thousand the-cost of production will be increased by tlib award."
