Mr. Grahame White,' the famous avia. tor, journeyed recently from Brooklands to- Woking,- where he lia'd to' answer "a: •summons for-having exceeded the speed limit—on his motor-car—on the Earman. biplane with which 'he. attempted ..to fly. from London to Manchester, lie left-tho Brooklands track at half-past sis', and; rose'to a'height of : about "two hundred, feet. Ho descended in a field about a" mile from Woking, the. property of one of the magistrates, who sat in judgment upon him. Mr. White, 'who-. pleaded-'. guilty to the charge, was.fined .£5 and' . costs. Subsequently he visited the mem-' bet .of the bench-in'whose-field .lie had descended, and met the other magistrates i under happier circumstances.. He. then returned to .Brooklands '.by aeroplane. -.-';•
