M'Laren: But I must leave, for at my instaiico a meeting of the City Council lias been called, and I must; necessarily attend.
, Mr. Mackenzie: Well, I am sorry. ' Mr. T. E.. Taylor: You ought.to go a good deal further. - ' Mr. Mackenzie:. You go a good deal further yourself sometimes. Mr. Taylor:'But- I try to prove my charges. Tho Speaker (to tho Minister): Members ought not to imputo lack Of courage to one another. The incident concluded as a result of the Minister withdrawing, his remark regarding Mr.•'■■M'Laren. ' <
MUNICIPAL FRANCHISE. Mr. Fisher's Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, Amendment No. 2. provides that tho residential qualification shall bo that an elector must liavo resided for one year in Neiv Zealand, and resided in the electoral district for which lio claims to vote during a period of at least ono month immediately preceding his registration on tho district electors' list.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT. It is not expected that tho Financial Statement will bo brought down beforo Friday next.
JOTTINCS. Mr. Fishor has again introduced a Bill having for its object the repeal of tho Second Ballot Act. Notice was given in the House yesterday of intention to introduce the following Bills Town Boards Amendment Bill (Hon. D. Buddo); Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Amendment Bill (Hon. T. Mackenzie).
Several school committees are petitioning for' increaso of maintenance and capitation grants to Education Boards. Air. T. E. Taylor's Juries Amendment Bill, which proposes to do away with .Krsuul juries, Ims boon circulated.
