COURT OF APPEAL.
LONG-DRAWN LIBEL LITIGATION. STILL GOING ON. The appeal on points of law, brought in the case ol' Albert Ernest Louis Bertling v. -Jolni Norton was further argued yesterday, before Mr. Justice "Williams, Jlr. Justice Kdwavds, ami <fust-ioe Chapman. Mr. A. Dunn appoarod for the appellant Norton, and Mr.' i\ B. J. Sharp for the respondent Bertling. Tho appeal arose out of a libel notion for <£'2000, instituted by liertling, snporintendent of the Wellington "/oo," against Norton, proprietor of a newspaper willed "Now Zealand Truth/' Tho ca?o was heard in March, when a special jury gave a verdict in Bertling's favour, lor <£1000 damages. In April application was made, on behalf of Norton, for a trial of the action, but the Chief Jnstico and Mr. Justice Cooper dismissed the application. Appeal was now made in regard to this latter decision. Tho Court heard Mr. Dunn's address, and intimated that, if it was considered necessary to call upon Mr. Sharp to present his side of the case, the parties would bo so informed.
