ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
: ♦ KILLED BY FALL OF CLAY. (By TeieeraDh—Press Association.' Dunedin, July 7. Daniel Al'Leod, a single mail, aged 22, was killed at Gore's brickworks at Wingatui this morning by a fall of clay. Death was almost instantaneous. THROWN FROM A HORSE. Nelson, July 7. John Sl'Conchie, butcher, of Collingwood, was thrown from his horso yesterday, and died this morning. Ho was well known locally in Masonic circles, and is a. brother of Councillor M'Conchie, of Nelson. DESPONDENCY AND SUICIDE. Christcfiurc'n, July 6. ■Walter H. Eowe, a married man, committed suicide at his home this afternoon by cutting his throat. He had been despondent, and for some unknown cause left home yesterday evening, but returned this morning, when he locked himself and his wife in tho house and threatened to take his life. The police were communicated with, and when a constable arrived the woman was outside the house, and Eowe inside with the door locked. The constable demanded admittance, and then burst the door open. He found Eowe expiring. TEAMCAE. LEAVES THE RAILS. A stone on the rail caused an Oriental Bay car to leave the metals opposite the Boat Harbour shortly after 5.30 last evening. The car cleared the rails completely, maintaining its vortical position. No one was injured. A gang of men jacked tho car back on to tho rails in about an hour's time.
