SOME NEW BILLS,
" FARCICAL " COMMITTEE : A PROTEST. MATTERS OF MOMENT. The debate on the Address-in-Eeply in the Council yesterday was continued by the lions. W. C. 1\ Carneross, 11. Scotland, and H. I l '. Wigram. The debate is not expected lo be finished to-day. The debate on the Address-in-Keply concluded in the House at 8.20 p.m., aud sessional committees were tlien appointed. An interesting reference (reported elsewhere) was afterwards made to the subject of the relations existing between the High Commissioner's oiiice and the linn of "Ij. A. Smith." On this matter the Prime Minister desired to make a statement and submit correspondence to the House, but in deference to the wish of Mr. llasse.v and other members, who were anxious that time should be available to discuss the statement and correspondence, Sir Joseph Ward agreed to postpone his explanation till to-day. On the Prime Minister's motion the Housijr adjourned at- 10.45 p.m.
