The Civil List Committee has recommended tho voting of a similar amount, to King George to that granted King Edward, viz., JM70.000 per annum. An increase of ,6KI,()00 to provide for the younger members of the Royal Family is, however, a',-o recommended. It is understood lliat, following the precedent of 1901, when Queen Alexandra was given a contingent annuity of .£7(1,000 in. tho' event of her surviving King Edward, the committee will recommend a similar contingent annuity to Queen Mary in the event of her surviving King George.
KING NOT TO PAY INCOME TAX, PROVISION FOR THE PRINCES. (Rec. July S, 0.5 a.m). London, July 7. The Civil List Committee proposes that King Georgo shall not pay income tax, but shall defray the cost of the State visits of foreign monarchs to Britain. No provision is made for the Duko of Cornwall, but tho other Royal Princes are to receive an annuity of .£IO,OOO. This will bo raised to .£15,000 after the Princes have reached their majority. The Princess Royal, upon her marriage, will receive J!(!000 per annum. Mr. G. N. Barnes, Labour member for Glasgow, Blackfriars, added a memorandum making the suggestion that the revenues of the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall should bo handed to tho nation and treated as revenue for settling the Civil List.
