The contour survey of the Federal Capital site at Xass, New South Wales, has been completed, and arrangements for laying out tho town are proceeding. MR. O'MALLEY MUCH IMPRESSED. BANKING SYSTEM TO FINANCE IT. Mr. King O'Maliey, Minister for Home Affairs, returned from a visit to the Federal Capital silo on Juno JU, when it was announced that the contour survey had been completed, and that plans were being prepared by tho State Department. Mr. o'Miillcy was hrtnly convinced that the selection was an excellent one. "It's all right," he said. "It's as good as you could wish for. The Cotter was running at the Tate of 21 million gallons an hour. We went down and took the gauge. It's beautiful, cleai, cold water. I was very much impressed. I went everywhere that was of any importance. There's a lot of good, fertile land. It's a beautiful site. It's got tho background. Nothing could be said against it, as far as the. site goes, providing the Water is there, and if the water is always as it is now . then it is all right." No building of any kind will be started according to the Minister, until the dnsign of the city is determined. Then it will be all fixed so that each building will have its allotted .space. He hinted at plans lhat. have been mado for the city .and the intention of the Government about, calling for designs but would state nothing definite about them. Where is the money coming from to build the Federal city? Mr. O'jfailey was asked. "Well, you people know that I've got a banking system that will finance it," was the reply, with a smile.
