WAIRTSNA, FROM NEWCASTLE. Early yesterday morning the y ?ion Company's TVairuna arrived from Newcastle, and after medical inspection was berthed ait the Railway Wharf. Her officers report a very Tough passage. Strong south-east gales were encountered as soon as the vessel put to sea, and on the second day the wind had raised such tremendous seas that the heavily-laden collier was hove to for nearly 24 hours. Later, the wind veered to the south, and blew fiom tnat quarter till Sunday last, when it worked round towaTds the east again. Stephen's Island was abeam on Monday afternoon, but as it would have been impossible to make port before late at night, tho-steam-or sheltered till yesterday morning. Her cargo consists of 5500 tons of coal, part for Napier, whither she sails towards tho end o£ the week.
Another smart trip has been completed by the schooner ..Ysabel (Captain TV; Ross), which arrived at Auckland on Sunday morning from the Friendly Islands. The round trip from Auckland to the Islands and back was accomplished in 33 days. The old -record for this voyage was 39 days, which the Ysabel established on her last passage to the , Islands. She has therefore reduced her own record by six days. .All claims against the barc-uc County of Inverness must be sent in to the local agents to-day (Wednesday), July 6, by 2 p.m. A notico to consignees of cargo on tho s.s.
