TOBACCONISTS' CONFERENCE.

TO SIT TO-MORROW. This is tho season of conferences. It is the aim of most congregations of people particularly interested in something or other to .talk over their troubles under the very nose of Parliament. The next trades' gathering is the Tobacconists' Conference, which is to sit in Wellington tomorrow. Tho local traders have bestirred themselves considerably of late, and incidental to the formation of an association have discovered that they have quite a healthy list of grievances which need redress. So a conference has been summoned, at which delegates (about 20 in number) from all parts of Now Zealand will assemble to argue about matters concerning tho pipe of peace. The conference, which will be held in the rooms of the secretary (Mr. H. E. Allen), will discuss the following subjects:—Licensing of tobacconists; consideration of the formation of a New Zealand Tobacconists' As.wcition," consideration Licensed Victuallers' Association; to consider a uniform tariff; and to consider tbe 25 per cent, commission or surcharge on Customs duties. Tho delegates will bo entertained at luncheon at tho Grand Hotel at 1 p.m. to-morrow. At the conclusion of tho conference there will be a deputation to the Minister for Trade and Customs (Hon. J. A. Millar).
