OTAKI ITEMS.
On Sunday night, between. 8 and 9 o'clock, a rumour gained currency that a burglar had entered the promises of Mr. Byron lirown's shop. A small band, headed by the. local constable, surrounded the premises. The constable then effected an entrance, and presently found himself face to face with—the proprietor. At the monthly meeting of the Otaki Bond Board on Saturday it was decided to ask for the following grants:—N. Manakau, .£100; WaiUawa, .£400; Eangiuru Road and Bridge, .(MOO; S. Manakau, ,£2OO. Oil Saturday at the local Court three Maimkau residents, charged with disturbing a concert, were fined as follow:— M'Cnlloch, 305., and costs lis. 5d.; Richardson, 305., and costs 18s. 2d.; Eden, 305., and costs It?. 5d., and, for obeeeue language, '10s., and costs 9s. The Shannon footballers failed to ap-j pear here on Saturday, and thus enabled Kia Toa to.secure their only win so far this season.
